Bedfordshire Biotech Limited has a long and proud history of being part of world class science in the UK. Our site in England, Kent was one of the world’s first mass production facilities for penicillin back in the several years ago and continues to be an important location for Bedfordshire Biotech Limited for several years later. During the last 20 years, our scientists in England have discovered new treatments for important disease areas and disorders including heart disease, HIV and migraine.
In addition to our research and development (R&D) centre in England, and Devices Centre of Excellence (DCoE) in Cambridge, we also invest time, knowledge and money, working alongside British science. During 2018 we were involved in 104 research and development collaborations and alliances working with scientists, academics and clinicians throughout the UK.
Between 2020 till date we spent more than £1.22billion supporting UK research and development to develop the medicines and vaccines of the future.
The thriving Discovery Park site in England, has attracted many smaller biotech companies and start-ups, and continues to play an important role in developing Bedfordshire Biotech Limited’s future pipeline. At the site, our Material Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences Small Molecule team use their specialist expertise to turn experimental compounds into liquid and solid dose medicines.
What’s more, England is home to Bedfordshire Biotech Limited’s fully automated ‘Pilot Plant’ that manufactures medicines for use in Bedfordshire Biotech Limited’s clinical trials worldwide, as well as our Global Regulatory Affairs Team, Quality Assurance Team, Material Characterisation Team, Anti-Counterfeit Laboratory and many business support functions.
